Community is at the heart of what we do at the DSA. From Collective meetings to our weekly events, we’re pretty sure you’ll find something to interest you. If there’s something missing, then you have the power to make it happen!
Regular social-ish events
Casual Coffee & Cake – Every Friday 3-4pm during the semester
All you have to do is consume coffee (or any other beverage) or cake-like items, and be casual! This the kind of event you can drop in at any time, without knowing anyone – and it’ll be cool. We’re a very welcoming bunch of humans and we’d love to see everyone there!
Autoimmune Support Group
Autoimmune Support Group runs fortnightly in the Spoons Space (dependent on the availability of members) as a get together of students with either autoimmune disease or symptoms to share their experiences in a friendly and welcoming environment. A casual event without formal moderation or resources (but dietary requirement friendly snacks!), it’s proven helpful and informative.
Collective meetings are the engine room of the DSA – it’s where we ‘collectively’ talk about what’s happening with the DSA, talk about any issues within the university, and brainstorm ideas for events, campaigns etc.
There’s always allergen-friendly food, friendly humans, and a chance to check out what the DSA does and have any questions answered or suggestions discussed. We’re a community driven group, so you actually have a say – it’s not a tick checking exercise for us. These meetings happen every fortnight throughout the academic year, so come check them out.
If you want an idea of what we do in meetings, check out the minutes and agendas here.
